Bricsys® Network License Server is a standalone software component normally deployed inside a company's network to host floating licenses issued by the Bricsys software vendor. It is expected to be used by system or network administrators to manage the usage of floating licenses.
Bricsys Network License Server V1.1.0 supports network licenses issued for recent versions of Bricsys software products, like BricsCAD®
or Communicator for BricsCAD® (it is also compatible with the network licenses issued for previous versions of these products, until V14).
RLM framework
To protect the intellectual property embedded in its software, Bricsys uses the RLM framework from the Reprise technology provider.
This version of Bricsys Network License Server is powered by a recent version of RLM framework (V15.2).
Web Server
The Mongoose web server, embedded in the recent versions of RLM framework, let administrators overview and manage the floating licenses.
That web server implies the following security rules:
- Web server requires a login procedure to access its web interface (RLM will create a default Admin account automatically at its startup).
- The default password for Admin account must be changed within 10 minutes after installation.
- Passwords for accessing its web interface are case-sensitive.
- The web interface
supports HTTPS protocol.
Bricsys Network License Manager®
Bricsys Network License Manager is an add-on for RLM framework, developed by Bricsys to let the customers activate and update their floating licenses. The add-on has a graphical user interface which allows a user to manage their floating licenses hosted on a License Server: the user can see them, update them, and add new ones. The interface will also give that user a clear indication which of their licenses can be updated and which of them cannot.
New features
Command Line Interface
Starting with version 1.1.0, users can communicate with the Bricsys Network License Manager using the Command Line interface. Those who prefer to operate their systems in terminal mode (without using a graphical user interface) can utilize the Network License Manager via a command line prompt.
Fixes
Updating floating licenses
Bricsys Network License Server v1.1.0 includes fixes for the following known issues in the licensing update mechanisms:
- Updating a floating license was not possible when the RLM server hosted several licenses with different host names on the same machine.
- Updating a floating license was not possible when its license key was returned multiple times by the RLM license server APIs.
Known limitations
The following known limitations are identified in this release:
- When upgrading from the old versions of RLM framework (14.2 and earlier), the old .PW files are no longer valid. To fix this, a user must delete the old .PW file and create a new one.
- Bricsys Network License Manager does not support updating licenses that are manually merged into one complex file; it supports default setup: one Bricsys software license per file.
- Opening the 'Proxy Settings' dialog and saving empty values by pressing the 'OK' button might cause failures in license activation or updates. Closing and reopening the Network License Manager resolves this issue.
System Requirements
Bricsys Network License Server can be deployed on Windows or Linux platforms.
